The colourful ceremony which was held both virtual and physical witnessed the induction of hundreds of associateships in different levels including; Chartered Bankers Masters of Business Administration/ Associate Chartered Institute of Bankers (CBMBA/ACIB), Masters of Science /Associate Chartered Institute of Bankers (MSC/ACIB), Chartered Bankers, Microfinance Certified Bankers. These are people who have gone through the training and have successfully passed the Associate Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) Banking Professional examinations.
The following inductees are added to the growing list of professional Chartered Bankers in the Gambia:
- Mr Patrick Preirra – Standard Chartered Bank
- Miss Kumba Touray – Vista Bank Group, Gambia
- Abdoulie Saidykhan – Vista Bank Group, Gambia
This brings the number of home-grown Chartered Bankers to forty-eight (48) and counting.
The journey started in 2008 when all the Commercial Banks came together to form The Gambia Bankers Association. The banks realised the need to elevate the quality of banking service delivery in the interest of esteemed customers to world class standard. The vehicle chosen to reach that goal was creating the Institute of Bankers of The Gambia which would train bankers and would-be bankers to the highest professional standard as well as ensure continuous professional development training for bankers. The idea was also to avail Gambians and non-Gambians residing in the country the opportunity to receive world class education in banking and finance without having to travel abroad.
We are proud of our graduates who have continued to assume senior positions in our financial sectors with sterling performance. Some of our graduates because of their training, are now project managers in international organisations, some are directors of NGOs and others have started their own businesses.
We are proud to announce the introduction of Microfinance Certified Bankers Certificate in October, 2023. Aspiring microfinance professionals are therefore encouraged to register now and become part of the growing elites in the profession.
