Hon. Sulayman Jammeh, the National Assembly Member (NAM) for Bundung Kakunda, has talked about the Bundung street light project, saying it is already ongoing, and that the entire Bundung Six Junction has been installed with street lights.

He added that he would make his constituency proud by bringing more development projects for the people.

He added that he would continue the development aspirations of his people.

Hon. Jammeh made these statements during an exclusive interview with this reporter at his residence in Bundung.

“Currently we are installing about 125 street lights for the other parts of Bundung,” he affirmed.

“Even when I was a councilor, we were able to provide a lot of communities with tap water within various homes in Bundung and beyond. Over 80 communities were able to benefit from that project.”

“So I therefore thank our partners and donors and the communities for making that project a successful project based on the collaboration and partnership of all the stakeholders.”

Hon. Jammeh said since there is no agricultural farm in Bundung, he decided to create a micro-finance project for women in different areas in Bundung geared towards helping them to generate income for themselves and their families.

“In the area of set-settal (cleaning), we were able to invest our own money to provide trucks to clean up our environment, but sometimes KMC would also intervene, but most of the time, we do it by ourselves as a community. So I want to thank the people of Bundung for their support because that is why Bundung is the most developed community within the Greater Banjul Area today.”

On the issue of water, he said: “I am appealing to NAWEC. Let them consider Bundung and work on the problem.”

“So I am appealing to everybody to do the right thing. If we do the right thing, each and every one of us, based on our responsibility, we would achieve what we want for the country,” Hon. Jammeh said.

He also advocates for the Anti Corruption Bill to be passed, saying that those who are going to be in charge of the Anti Corruption Commission need to be people with a high degree of integrity.

“If they are not genuine, you will still have corruption in our system.”

“I want to assure the people of Bundung that I am their servant, and I will serve them to the best of my ability.”
