Mr Sonko says Dr Drammeh has earned his respect, that the latter could still cope with authoring such magnitude of books, considering the nature of his work at the Gambia Revenue Authority, a highly reputable institution.
He said it is significant to do such a work, which makes Dr Drammeh a distinguished personality within the Writers Association of the Gambia and the education sector particularly.
The work and wisdom of Dr Seedy Drammeh, a household name in The Gambia, with a positive track record, will continue to linger in the history books of The Gambia for educating the masses through the various books he has authored.
Mr Sonko made these remarks during the recent official launching of the book entitled ‘The Unifying Power of Eating Together or With Others’. This latest book tallied the total number of books by Drammeh 36 books, 11 of have been approved by the Curriculum, Research, Evaluation and Development Directorate of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for use as supplementary reading materials for schools since May 2022.
According to Mr Sonko, the multidisciplinary areas that Dr Drammeh has dealt with in his writings demonstrate his insightful and literary brilliance in the art of writing.
Mr Sonko further stated that each of the books provides clear and coherent information on its subject matter that hooks the reader to it, making it a must-read book. He also cited that the exceptional writing skills Dr Drammeh is blessed with have earned him recognition for his giant accomplishments.
He also expressed gratitude and appreciation for being honoured to relay a brief biography of the author Dr Drammeh on the official launching ceremony.
Meanwhile, from Sonko’s presentation, it is learned that Dr Seedy Drammeh was born at Sikunda village in the Jarra West District, Lower River Region of The Gambia. He first attended Pakalinding Primary School, and then proceeded to Tahir Ahmadiya in Mansanko and Gambia Muslim Senior Secondary School in Banjul.
With regard to his higher education, Dr Drammeh attended the then Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) for an advance diploma in information technology. He further proceeded to the United Kingdom, where he obtained a Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) and a Doctorate degree in public administration. Dr Drammeh is the deputy director of at the Human Resources at the Gambia Revenue Authority (the GRA).
As a writer, Drammeh has received some inspirational awards in the form of certificates of commendations. One of such was awarded to him by the Office of the President under the leadership His Excellency Adama Barrow.
In a related development, he has been credited for his participation and valuable contribution in a review of the country’s first National Security Strategy and Security Sector Reform Strategy for the Government of The Gambia.
Further, he was recognised by the Young Writers Association of The Gambia during the first Kunta Kinteh International Book Festival. The young writers’ body recognised him for his publications, contribution to corporate governance, effective leadership, human resources management, and, above all, for his active role in the networking for the advancement of people and institutions in The Gambia.
Furthermore, Doctor Drammeh was also awarded a certificate of appreciation for contributing towards the review and launch of a book written by a young writer in the country.
In his conclusion, Mr Sonko highlighted that Dr Drammeh is an asset for The Gambia, adding that it is pride to have such a son of, not only The Gambia but Africa at large.
