The African Leadership Magazine (ALM), a Pan-African body that promotes innovation, entrepreneurship and development in Africa, on Thursday 28 October 2021 conferred a Special African Public Service Excellence Award on Ousman Jobarteh, the managing director of The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA).

The award was conferred on Mr. Jobarteh in his absence couple of weeks ago in Accra, Ghana, at ALM’s annual Regulatory Forum 2021.

The award, according to the citations, is in recognition of his leadership and commitment to developing the port and river transport infrastructure as well as his resilience to keep business afloat in the wake of covid-19 pandemic.

Ousman Jobarteh, who was contacted for comments, said: “This award is the collective effort of all staff of the ports, ferries, shipyard and fisheries jetty, whose commitment and dedication to service is worth recognition in line with our mission to serve as centre of excellence for trade, logistics and distribution.”

He equally commended GPA management and staff for their hard work and sacrifice that earned the Authority such an accolade and spurred them to do more as volume of trade surges.
