Gov’t halts development activities at Kamalo

The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs wishes to inform the public about the initiation of a review exercise in the Kamalo Proper and Kamalo Extension Industrial Layouts situated along the Banjul-Serekunda Highway. Effective immediately, a halt on all development activities in these designated areas is being enforced.

A multi-stakeholder task force has been established with the mandate to conduct a thorough review of all land allocations in Kamalo Proper and Kamalo Extension Industrial Layouts.

The key objectives of this review include assessing the fairness of allocation procedures, ensuring transparency in processes, and aligning practices with existing laws and policies.

Moreover, it aims to preserve the intended land use by guarding against misuse.

To facilitate this exercise, all individuals and entities that have been allocated land in these areas are required to submit all relevant information and documentation pertaining to their land allocation applications.

Submission Details: 

  1. All allottees are kindly requested to submit their documentation to the Permanent

Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs located in

Banjul. 

2.The deadline for submission is Friday, September 8, 2023.

This review underscores the Ministry's unwavering commitment to promoting transparency, upholding the principles of good governance, and ensuring equitable access to land resources.

We urge all affected individuals and corporations to fully cooperate and adhere to this directive.

The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs, as the government body entrusted with land administration, reiterates its dedication to efficient and effective land resource management in a sustainable manner, in alignment with our national development

goals and the interests of the public and communities across the country.

In conclusion, the general public is further notified that wherever necessary, the Ministry will conduct reviews of allocations with a view to ensuring that prescribed rules and regulations are complied with.
