This initiative, he said, will help reduce the loans on women, noting that women have been suffering from taking loans with huge interest rates, while assuring that this will stop under his government.
He further assured GDC government support to agricultural development to boost production for food self-sufficiency.
Kandeh gave this assurance at a GDC political rally held on January 3, 2026 at the Tallinding Buffer Zone, in the Kanifing Municipality.
Further, Kandeh suggested for the possible change of the Ministry of Youths and Sports to Ministry of Youths and Development.
He stated “it should not only be a Ministry of Youth and Sports, but it should be Ministry of Youths and Development.”
He said “in this Ministry of Youth and Development, there is need to give them enough budget that would be able to take our youths abroad every year to seek various skills and come back to The Gambia and use those skills for development.”
“We have not invested into our youths and that is why we are lagging behind,” he added.
Kandeh advanced that since politics began in the Gambia, youth and women are the ones that have been used and yet these women and youths have not seen any benefits.
He assured that the GDC government will prioritise the youths by investing hugely in the youth sector for knowledge and skills acquisition abroad and come back home to develop the country.
