The ECOWAS Court of Justice, on 5 July 2023, delivered a judgment in favour of Nana Joy Ndow, a daughter of late Saul Ndow, to be paid the above amount.
Confirming the verdict, Sankareh stated: “That’s the daughter of the late Saul Ndow called Nana Joy Ndow. The ECOWAS Court of Justice delivered a judgment on July 5th that the Gambia government is liable for paying US$110,000. The government is not appealing the verdict, meaning that the Gambia government accepts the verdict. The government is considered one of the most compliant states as far as the community court of justice is concerned.”
He added that subsequently, Madam Ndow would get her money, saying the ramification and “the modalities will be determined” by the Ministry of Justice.
Sankareh also spoke on the current Senegambia Bridge revenue, saying the bridge fetches between D28 million to D30 million annually contrary to the Finance Minister’s pronouncement of more of D50 million.
“Sometimes when the situation is very good, we can get up to D40 million but we never hit D50 million,” he clarified.
