The Sanyang community and neighboring villages are celebrating a significant milestone as GACH Global over the weekend officially inaugurated a waiting shed valued at 1.5 million dalasis.

Officials stated that the new waiting shed will benefit not only the local residents but will also provide shelter for patients visiting the hospital, offering them relief from the scorching sun.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Abubakary Jawara, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GACH Global Group, spoke at length on the significance of the convergence and also made a significant announcement regarding the support for the local medical facility.

GACH Global, he said, will contribute 150 liters of fuel for ambulance maintenance, 30 solar lights, two sets of smart televisions, comfortable chairs for women accessing medical services, essential office furniture, and a pickup vehicle for the Sanyang police station.

“I also want to inform you all that GACH Global is committed to constructing a modern mosque in Sanyang, further showcasing GACH Global Group’s dedication to community welfare.”

Retired Major Momodou Bojang, joined by the council of elders, expressed heartfelt gratitude to GACH Sand Mining and its CEO, Dr. Abubakary Jawara. He praised the village development committee and affirmed that all residents of Sanyang stand united in their support for the company.

Mr. Bojang was amazed by the remarkable enhancements to the health facility since his previous visit, crediting these developments to GACH Sand Mining. He expressed his hopes for the company's sustained success.

Boto Bojang, the Ward Councilor of the area, highlighted the warm reception Sanyang has extended to GACH since the establishment of the community mosque and police station.

He added: “While GACH allocates a portion of its profits to social initiatives, the significant advantages of mining have become increasingly clear since the company's inception. Numerous developments have emerged, such as the donation of medical equipment and the construction of a new waiting shed.”

Bojang lauded GACH Global Mining Company and described its CEO, Abubakary Jawara, as a genuine son of Sanyang. He emphasised that Jawara's commitment to the community first became evident with the construction of the local police station, solidifying his status as a dedicated benefactor.

“I had a crucial conversation with Jawara about the developmental obstacles confronting Sanyang. In response, Jawara pledged to tackle these issues by supplying hospital beds, medication, and other vital equipment to the community.”

“Waiting area for patients was insufficient, leaving both patients and their escorts vulnerable to the harsh sun. Once this concern was raised, Jawara promptly tasked the Village Development Committee (VDC) with drafting a budget for a new waiting room, estimated at 1.5 million dalasis. GACH Global generously allocated the funds for this essential project.”

Abdoulie Gaye, the Chairman of the Village Development Committee, revealed that in the past, women would gather under a tree while awaiting medical services. “Now, thanks to the newly constructed waiting shed, they can experience a more comfortable and sheltered environment.”

VDC Chairman Abdoulie Gaye commended GACH Global Mining Company for their exemplary contributions, highlighting them in stark contrast to other mining companies, whom he asserted have failed to make substantial impacts on the community.

“Since the agreement was signed with the company, GACH Global has consistently met its commitments, making monthly contributions to the community's Vista Bank Account. In fact, this project's original budget was set at 950,000 dalasis, which was subsequently increased to accommodate the costs associated with its completion.”

Gaye refuted allegations that GACH Global has failed to contribute to community development, saying: “I want critics to connect with the VDC to witness tangible evidence of the company's positive impact.”

GACH company, he went on, has made significant contribution to the village ranging from tiling of the mosque, the establishment of a women’s garden, the construction of a police station, the provision of medical equipment to the hospital, the organisation of a football tournament, and the recent renovation of a waiting shed, adding: “Furthermore, GACH Global maintains consistent monthly payments at Vista Bank, underscoring their commitment to the community.”

Omar B. Baldeh, the officer overseeing the health center, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to GACH Global Mining Company. He emphasised that their contribution marks a significant advancement in healthcare services within the community.

Baldeh emphasised that the assistance provided will have a long-lasting effect, enhancing healthcare services for the community and easing the strain of waiting in the sun.

"This waiting shed represents much more than mere shelter; it embodies our collective aspiration for accessible and dignified healthcare. May it serve as a reminder that through collaboration, we can accomplish incredible things for our community,” he stated.
