When the matter was called at the Banjul High Court, A. A. Saho appeared for the State, while the accused person was not represented by any lawyer.
The state counsel A.A. Saho then sought for adjournment, saying: “This is a matter that is before the police and is from a magistrate court. Therefore, the state has received the file and that they are working on how to prepare a bill of indictment. We are not yet ready with the bill of indictment, hence we are seeking a shorter adjournment.”
This application was granted by the presiding judge. However, before adjourning the case, the presiding Judge asked the accused person whether she had a lawyer. The accused responded in the negative, saying “My family is working to secure a lawyer for me.”
Consequently, the judge adjourned the case to Tuesday for further mention of the case.
The accused Kumba Sinyan last month appeared at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Omar Jabang on the allegation of killing Momodou Lamarana Jallow, aged, 25.
