
The former minister appeared yesterday before the special court responsible for trying former members of the government. The hearing focused on a sensitive issue: a case of overcharging for rice valued at nearly 3 billion CFA francs, dating back to the period of the COVID-19 health crisis.
This appearance is part of the accountability process initiated by the new authorities with regard to former officials of the previous regime.
Since last week, three ex-ministers of Macky Sall were all remanded, while another was put under house arrest. They are all facing scrutiny over public funds including covid-19 funds and bribery.
