Amadou Mansour Faye, former minister, mayor of Saint-Louis, and brother-in-law of former President Macky Sall, was imprisoned this Monday, May 26, 2025, after his hearing before the Investigative Commission of the High Court of Justice, according to consistent information.

The former minister appeared yesterday before the special court responsible for trying former members of the government.  The hearing focused on a sensitive issue: a case of overcharging for rice valued at nearly 3 billion CFA francs, dating back to the period of the COVID-19 health crisis.

This appearance is part of the accountability process initiated by the new authorities with regard to former officials of the previous regime.

Since last week, three ex-ministers of Macky Sall were all remanded, while another was put under house arrest. They are all facing scrutiny over public funds including covid-19 funds and bribery.

Mansour Faye’s sister Marieme Faye attempted to bail him with 2 billion CFA but was not successful.
