Former GDC Candidate Simon I. Gomez joins NPP

Mr Simon I. Gomez, who contested the 2022 National Assembly elections for the Foni Bintang constituency under the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has officially joined the ruling National People’s Party (NPP). The announcement came following a meeting with the NPP’s Deputy Campaign Manager, Mr. Momodou Sabally, held the previous day. Mr. Gomez formalised his decision during a courtesy visit to the NPP Deputy Spokesperson, Hon. Seedy S.K. Njie, in Banjul.

A brief induction ceremony was held in his honour, attended by the NPP’s Administrative Secretary, Mr. Seedy Ceesay, and the Party’s Regional Chairman for the West Coast Region, Mr. Lamin Jamba Jammeh.

Welcoming Mr. Gomez, NPP officials expressed their appreciation for his decision to join the party, assuring him of their support. Hon. Njie emphasised that the NPP is founded on the principles of equality, inclusive representation, national unity, and social cohesion, values that respect and embrace the country’s ethnic and religious diversity.

In his remarks, Mr. Gomez lauded President Adama Barrow for his transformative development agenda and pledged his full commitment to working with the President and the NPP. He further assured the party of his intent to leverage his extensive political experience and personal resources to advance the national interest through the platform of the NPP.
