FELCBA President addresses World Maritime University Alumni landmark launch

The first Gambian President of the Federation of ECOWAS Customs Licensed Brokers Association (FELCBA), Essa Wally, recently addressed the official launch of the World Maritime University Alumni Association Gambia Chapter.

Mr Wally was chosen as special guest of honour to give goodwill message to the members of the association during the official launch of the association.

In his addressing, Essa Wally, who is also the current president of the Association   of Clearing, Customs and Forwarding Agents (ACCFA), said:  “I was delighted to be part of the official launch of the World Maritime University Alumni Association Gambia chapter.” He added that the momentous occasion marked a significant milestone in the journey of Gambian maritime professionals.

He stated that the World Maritime University Alumni Association Gambia chapter represents a vital network of maritime experts dedicated to advancing the interests of the maritime industry in The Gambia and beyond. He further said the chapter “will undoubtedly play a crucial role” in promoting maritime education, fostering knowledge sharing, capacity building, and professional development among members.

Speaking on networking and collaboration, he said the association would facilitate partnerships between alumni, industry stakeholders, and government agencies, adding that on advocating for maritime Interests, the association will represent the voices and concerns of Gambian maritime professionals on national and international platforms.

”We embark on this journey,” he stated, “I encourage members to leverage expertise, foster partnership and mentor future generations.” He said the Association of Customs, Clearing and Forwarding Agents of the Gambia, shipping lines, shipping agents and the FELCBA “look forward to working closely with the World Maritime University Alumni Association Gambia chapter to promote trade facilitation, efficiency and economic growth.”

Concluding, Mr Wally thanked the founding members of the association and urged them to keep up the good work and commitment to raising the flag of the association to a higher height with positive reputation.
