Deputy Speaker Seedy SK Njie has issued a call to Gambians living in the United States to support President Adama Barrow to effect a better Gambia.

The Deputy Speaker Njie is in the United States attending the Parliamentary Intelligence-Security Forum, a high-standing conference of 250 parliamentarians and diplomats from 60 countries around the world.

At the Gambian Markaz Saqafi Centre on Saturday December 9, D.S. Njie asked the patriots to stand behind President Adama Barrow.

“Let’s continue to support President Adama Barrow and his government. He is committed to transforming the country and you have seen the sign.”

He congratulated the patriots for their steadfastness and unity.

“When I came and saw the mosque (center) what I saw is a sign of unity, faithfulness and belief in religion. You’re united… To be able to get this type of facility in New York is proof of unity. I thank every citizen for their donation. Those who contributed their dollar for you to be able to acquire this property for this generation and generations yet unborn,” he said.

D.S. Njie’s trip comes at a time leaders of the Gambian community in the US were rolling out projects for young Gambians in the country to learn their language and culture. The D.S. insisted that it was the right thing to do.

“We must be ready to learn and practice our culture and tradition. Man without culture is a man without life,” he said.

“As a government, President Adama Barrow is committed to transforming The Gambia. Politics is about positivity. It’s about telling people the truth. It’s about being accountable for your actions and deeds.

“As a President, he believes that the people of The Gambia gave him an absolute mandate in 2016 and also in 2021, and as a government, we are committed to being equal to the task and to the assignment that you gave us to be in charge of your money. That is to usher in development.

“He has the National Development Plan from 2023 to 2027 and among them is to usher in unprecedented infrastructural development.
