CG Darboe extols sister security forces

The Commissioner General of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), Yankuba Darboe, has commended the sister security forces for their relative cordiality with GRA in tax mobilization.

He made these comments while speaking to reporters over the weekend.

He stated that sister security forces played a “critical role” in the maintenance of peace and stability, which avails the GRA the chance to collect the much needed revenue thereby complimenting GRA’s efforts in national development.

He noted that in the absence of peace and stability, the GRA cannot collect revenue for the government. He thus assured GRA’s resolve to intensifying its working relationship with other sister security apparatus to enhance effective service delivery.

The GRA boss confirmed that over the years his institution has had an excellent working relationship with their sister security forces; be it the Gambia Police Force, State Intelligence Services the Gambia Armed Forces and the Gambia Immigration Department.

According to Mr Darboe, his institution does share information with respect to their work with of the border posts.

“GRA always shares it office space with our sister agencies,” he disclosed, while urging all and sundry within the sister security apparatus to continue harnessing a more conducive working relationships that would complement each other’s work.

He described team work as being at the top of his institution's agenda, saying team work would help this country achieve its goal.

He explained that each of these institutions has its own mandates, roles and responsibilities in national development, “but coming together to complement each other is the best way forward for The Gambia”.

“We have to develop this country by ourselves and not foreigners and if we want to achieve that, we must work as a team and have the same agenda and put the country's interest first,” he advised.

He further commended the top commands, other security forces for their leadership in collaborating with GRA to achieve national interest.

CG Darboe added that when it comes to tax collections, all hands must be on deck. “They are helping GRA staff immensely in revenue mobilisation,” he said, adding that he cherishes the relationship while thanking the entire sister security forces in this respect.
