The project is part of the strategic priorities in preparation for the OIC Summit next year. His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic will preside over the occasion and has accepted honour of laying the foundation stone to mark the emblematic commencement of the civil works of the project.
Soon after the award of contract ceremony last month, the contractors, CSE/ALFAHD/SSTP (Lot I) and PAVIFORT/ HUTA/ GAMBISARA (Lot II), have started mobilizing equipment, manpower and including the setting up of site camps. Simultaneously, the effort for the relocation of utility services is also underway.
The roads under the OIC 50KM project will be constructed across the Greater Banjul Area. They will be equipped with street lights, drainage, and sidewalks. The contract has been divided into two lots to save time while maintaining quality.
Once completed, the identified roads will ameliorate the inconvenience associated with commuting within the Greater Banjul Area, boost commerce, and improve the urban outlook of the country.
All and sundry are invited and those interested should endeavor to be seated for at least half an hour before.
