Banjul to host Gambia-Senegal Economic & Investment Forum

The Gambia Embassy in Dakar, the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA), the AgenceNationale Pour la Promotion des Investissements et des Grands Travaux (APIX) will be organising the 2nd Edition of The Gambia-Senegal Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum and Exhibition Fair.

The theme of the Forum is: "Harmonization of a Friendlier Business Environment."

Official said the event which will be held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre is expected to be graced by His Excellency Muhammad B.S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, and His Excellency Ousman Sonko, Prime Minister of Senegal as Special Guests of Honour. 

In addition to the trade forum, a Cultural Gala Dinner will be organised on Friday, 20th December 2024. 

The event, they added, aims at strengthening the economic and trade cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal and provides an opportunity to present both countries as an ideal trade and investment destination to the Senegalese and Gambian companies. 

"The event further promotes people-people relations between the two countries in strengthening the long-standing bilateral ties between The Gambia and Senegal," an Official from The Gambia High Commission in Senagal said.

She added: "The forum will consist of high-level plenary sessions, thematic sessions on trade and investment, business meetings and Enterprise Exhibition. Participation includes MDAs of the respective governments and private sector players and businesses, officials, entrepreneurs, investors, and distinguished personalities from both countries."

"The focus areas are: Bilateral economic cooperation, trade and investment, joint infrastructure projects, special economic zones, Made-in-Gambia and Made-in-Senegal promotion, information and digital economy, transport and logistics, medical and health, agriculture and fisheries, oil and gas, arts and tourism."

The Cultural Gala Dinner, she added, will include pure entertainment from Gambian musical artists such as Jaliba Kuyateh and the Kumareh Band and a Senegalese musical artist. 

"This aims to promote the culture between the two countries. Awards will be presented during the event to individuals and companies in recognition of their contribution towards the event geared towards strengthening the bilateral ties between The Gambia and Senegal."

Government officials, Head of Institutions, the Diplomatic Corps and Entrepreneurs from both The Gambia and Senegal will also participate in the event.

The 1st Edition was successfully held in Dakar in October last year and which was graced by His Excellency Muhammad B.S. Jallow, Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, and His Excellency Amadou Ba, Former Prime Minister of Senegal. 

The event witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA) and the Agence Nationale Pour la Promotion des Investissements et des Grands Travaux (APIX) as well an MOU between GTSC and Dakar Dem Dikk, for the improvement of cross border transport between Banjul and Dakar.
