Ousainou Bojang has denied ownership of two mobile phones presented in court, stating that he could not verify whether they belong to him because the smartphone had been reset and locked with a PIN code.

It would be recalled that the alleged PIU shooter told the court that his smartphone was with the 6th prosecution witness, Ebou Sowe, at the Anti-Crime Unit and the simple phone was with a policeman called Lamin Cham.

However, Ousainou denied the simple phone, saying his simple phone was a black Nokia and not the one presented in court. He added that the smartphone had been reset, and it was asking for a PIN code.

When the phones were shown to the accused, he said he would have to look into the smartphoneto verify if it was his.

He was told by the defence counsel L. J. Darboe to switch the phones if they were charged. The accused went ahead and switched on the phones but the mobiles had been reset, and it was asking for a PIN code

Ousainou confirmed to the court that he did not know the code because at the time he was handing over the phones to the officer he cancelled the codes and also removed the pattern and the app locks.

“Why did you cancel the codes and pattern?” Counsel L. Darboe asked. “Officer Ebou Sowe told me to remove the pattern lock,” Ousainou responded, saying he did that through the instruction of Ebou Sowe.

“Unless I unlock the phone, I can’t ascertain whether that is my phone,” Ousainou said.

Defence counsel applied for a technician to help in accessing the phone with the supervision of the DPP.

“If we should summon a technician, he should be called to the court to open the phone here,” the DPP hinted a condition.
