Baba F. Trawally, the Amir of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia, has called on his fellow Ahmadiyya Muslims to remain firm and active in discharging their duties and responsibilities as family heads and elders in the society.

Amir Trawally was speaking during the closing ceremony of the annual national Ijtema of Majlis Ansarullah the Gambia, held at the Tahir Ahmadiyya Muslim Senior Secondary School in Mansakonko, Lower River Region over the weekend.

The responsibilities of elders are increasing day by day and the role they should play in society are becoming even more difficult, he said: "We should all remain firm and active in discharging our duties and responsibilities as family heads and elders in the society.”

He stated that at the age of 40, one would have reached full maturity. “And it is also a time when some people do not control their emotions and they will start feeling like they deserve more respect and honour.”

He advised husbands to treat their wives and their relatives fairly and accordingly, saying “When a husband behaves in a way that his wife finds inappropriate, it has a negative impact. This leads to much tension and discomfort in the house, which ultimately impacts the children.”

Amir Trawally further said: “Seek to act according to the expectations of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) to whom we have pledged our allegiance. We need to create an environment in our homes that sets forth a pure and righteous example. Be an example and role model for your wives and children in such a manner that they look up to you. These examples must also be set for the wider communities and surroundings, showing the way towards goodness.”

The Amir prays that the Almighty Allah enable all to fulfill their duties and obligations: "May He make us Ansarullah in the true sense of the terms and enable each person to reach his destination safely and may Allah Almighty in His unlimited powers and mercy continue to establish peace, security, stability and prosperity in our dear and beloved country, the Gambia."

Kemo Sonko, the Sadr Sahib Majlis Ansarullah, explained the objectives of establishing Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya (male youth from the ages of 15 to 40) and Majlis Atfalul Ahmadiyya (male children from the ages of 7 to 15), saying it is nothing but to instill in them the love of the Institution of Khilafat, and Majlis Ansarullah must endeavour to achieve this objective.

"If Atfalul Ahmadiyya are well trained, there is every reason to be optimistic of superior generations of members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at,” he said. “Majlis Ansarullah should therefore provide proper guidance for the youth and children so that our future generations can be protected against all from attacks, from this materialistic world."

Mr Sonko further tasked his members to remember His Holiness Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (May Allah be his Helper) in their prayers and develop strong bond. They should remember the Islamic Ummah in their prayers so that Allah the Almighty can bring about that unity and common purpose which was the hallmarks of earlier Muslims of the time of the beloved Master, Hazrat Muhammad Rasolullahsaw and his Khulafa.

He as well advised his fellow Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia to  remember the world in their prayers, particularly Palestine, Pakistan and other troubled countries, for peace and  justice for all. They also should remember their beloved country The Gambia for peace, stability and progress to reign. “May the Almighty grant the troubled world eternal peace!”he prays.
