Africa Relief and Community Development in partnership with World Medical Relief recently donated medical apparatus worth one million U.S. dollars to The Gambia government through the Ministry of Health.

Africa Relief and Community Development is a humanitarian aid organisation dedicated to Africa. It provides a wide range of support including food aid, constructing wells for clean water access, empowering women with skills training, delivering healthcare services, supporting orphans, and offering educational programmes.

The medical apparatus include: 88 unit assorted dialysis supplies; 60 unit 12ft extension sets; 60 unit 1.5 dialysis solution; 40 unit 15L dialysis solution; and 26 unit 4.5% dialysis solution among other medical apparatus.

The gesture aims to provide more medical apparatus to Gambian public health institutions.

In presenting items, Abdallah Loutif, country director for Africa Relief, said the move was meant to boost healthcare services in The Gambia.

“These medical apparatus are meant for two Africa Relief Clinics in Sambouya and Bussura villages and other public health facilities,” he said.

Thus, he thanked World Medical Relief for the cordial partnership with Africa Relief, while commending The Gambia government for giving the organization a conducive environment to work.

Ebrima Bah, programme coordinator for Africa Relief, said the gesture is meant to enhance access to healthcare services by all people living in The Gambia.

He said the gesture was made following Africa Relief’s discussion with the Health Ministry about providing medical apparatus to public healthcare facilities.

Representing the Ministry of Health, Musa Camara, regional director of Health for Western One (1), extended profound gratitude and appreciation to Africa Relief and its partners for complementing the government’s efforts.

Mr. Camara assured that the donated medical apparatus will be utilised judiciously. He added that the equipment will go a long way in helping medical personnel to execute their functions and patients to access medical care.
