The arrests were made between 22 February and 2 March 2024 at different locations.
The seized drugs included cannabis sativa, cannabis resin also known as hashish, skunk cannabis, kush, cocaine, tramadol and ecstasy.
The total quantity of drugs seized equates to 16 bundles, 17 parcels, 365 wraps and 3 smoking joint of cannabis sativa, 73 pieces of hashish, 13 medical plastic bags with 227 wraps of kush, 10 wraps of cocaine, 7 pills of ecstasy and 30 tablets of tramadol.
Thirty-three-year-old Foday Bangura a Guinean, 18-year-old Buba Jammeh and 32-year-old Yunusa Touray a Bissau national were arrested at Kartong by the Brikama DLEAG station on 28 February 2024 at around 18:40hrs onwards for jointly in possession of 17 parcels and 108 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa, which was concealed in white papers placed inside a muti-colour bag and hidden inside a bag pack.
Twenty-four-year-old Alieu Manneh, a resident of Kartong, was also arrested by Brikama DLEAG station on 28 February 2024 at around 18:40hrs onwards with 4 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white paper and placed inside a blue and black colour bag.
Twenty-year-old Modou Lamin Sanyang, a resident of Sanyang village, was arrested by Brikama DLEAG station on 28 February 2024 at around 19:15hrs onwards with 6 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa and 27 wraps of suspected kush concealed in white paper and placed inside a transparent nylon bag.
Twenty-eight-year-old Adama Gomez, a resident of Brikama Suba Ward, was arrested by Brikama DLEAG station on 1 March 2024 at around 12:25hrs onwards with 46 wraps of suspected kush concealed in white papers and placed under the counter at Francis's Bar.
Forty-one-year-old Musa Beyai, a resident of Abuko, was arrested by Serrekunda DLEAG station on 29 February 2024 at around 18:20hrs onwards with 70 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in white papers and placed inside a blue nylon bag which was further placed inside a red colour bag pack.
Twenty-three-year-old Charles Kanga, a Sierra Leonean residing at Churchill’s Town, was arrested by personnel of the Gambia Police Force Bakoteh Station on 28 February 2024 at around 11:30hrs onwards with 3 wraps of suspected kush concealed in a transparent nylon bag.
Thirty-one-year-old Foday Bangura, a Sierra Leonean residing at Kanifing South, was arrested by personnel of the Gambia Police Force Bakoteh Station on 29 February 2024 at around 17:00hrs onwards with 6 wraps of suspected kush and 2 sachets of tramadol which were in its original sachet and the kush concealed in a transparent nylon bag.
Forty-two-year-old Gibril Touray, a Sierra Leonean, 34-year-old Amadou Keita and 41-year-old Alagie Jeng were jointly arrested by personnel of the Gambia Police Force Bakoteh Station on 27 February 2024 at around 19:30hrs onwards with 4 wraps and some quantities of suspected kush concealed in a transparent nylon bag and placed in a brown blanket.
All the suspects are currently in custody while further investigations continue.
