2 Infantry Battalion nabs suspected armed robber

In a swift overnight operation, personnel of Laminkoto Military Base in the Central River Region South, arrested a suspected armed robber, following a violent armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, 22 October 2025, at Kuntaur Fula Kunda. 

The incident, reported at about 3:00am, was triggered after a fellow soldier who was on official pass alerted Laminkoto Military base upon hearing gunshots in the area. Soldiers led by Major Malick Boye immediately deployed to the scene. Upon arrival at the scene, the soldiers were able to apprehended one Musa Njie, a native of Totten village after a pursuit. He was found in possession of a locally made gun and a quantity of suspected cannabis sativa.

The robbery targeted a local businessman, Alagie Kawsu Kebba Jaiteh. Preliminary reports indicated that Mr Jaiteh was severely assaulted suffering two broken teeth. The armed assailants reportedly robbed off his safe.

The suspect, Musa Njie as at this post, is handed over to the Kuntaur Police for further investigation and prosecution.

The timely military response led to the recovery of the alleged weapon and illicit substances. The Gambia Armed forces continues investigations to apprehend the remaining suspects and locate the stolen safe.
