Two Gambians who were allegedly arrested by Senegalese soldiers in Bullock have been released, the National Assembly Member for Foni Berefet, Amie Colley has confirmed.

“The two men were assigned by one Fatou Bah to do some work for her at her garden. Fatou Bah and the husband are underprivileged and find it very difficult to get food for themselves. This is the reason they got a garden and plant Cashew trees. But the husband died and left Fatou with the children behind.

“One day Fatou sent Edrisa Jallow and Ebrima Bah (men arrested) to the garden to help reduce the Cashew branches for her and other unwanted trees so that she can burn them to get charcoal to sell and feed her small family. These two men went there and started doing the work. That was the time the Senegalese soldiers came and arrested them. They jailed them in Senegal, but I understand they are released a day before yesterday (Friday),” Honourable Colley told Kerr Fatou on Sunday evening.

Many Foni residents are demanding the removal of the ECOMIG forces stationed in the area, some of whom are Senegalese.

We will bring you the side of the Senegalese, if obtained.
