Gambia-Senegal Economic Forum!

Strengthening people -to-people and economies ties between the Gambia and Senegal continues to attract a lot of attention. It is an indisputable fact that the Gambia and Senegal are one people despite differences in colonial rule.

With similar cultural, ethnic and religious ties, the two countries stand at a better chance to exploit and turn and challenges into opportunities.

The Gambia Embassy in Dakar, the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA), the Agence Nationale Pour la Promotion des Investissements et des Grands Travaux (APIX) will today convene its 2nd Edition of The Gambia-Senegal Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum and Exhibition Fair.

Held on the theme- The theme of the Forum is: "Harmonization of a Friendlier Business Environment", this high-level forum will be attended by senior government officials in both countries.

The event aims to strengthen the economic and trade cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal and provides an opportunity to present both countries as an ideal trade and investment destination to the Senegalese and Gambian companies.   

This forum will also consist of high-level plenary sessions, thematic sessions on trade and investment, business meetings and Enterprise Exhibition. 

It no doubt create opportunity for MDAs of the respective governments and private sector players and businesses, officials, entrepreneurs, investors, and distinguished personalities from both countries.

The Gambia and Senegal have all it takes turn our challenges into opportunities. There is need for authorities to work closely by through the robust policies meant to strengthen the excellent neighborliness between the two countries. 

In fact what make this forum important is that it target key areas that are integral to the growth and development of the two countries. There is need for the two government to strengthen the bilateral economic cooperation, trade and investment.

As some of the key highlights in this high-level forum, there is hope for the future of these two countries in terms of eliminating existing obstacles face by people of both countries at the common borders. There is need to boost intra-Africa trade. And that ambitious goal can only materialize if we promote trade among ourselves. This will in turn promote sustainable development while leveraging the opportunities to transform the lives of the people. 

We hope that after this forum, the challenges people of the two countries face at our common borders with be a thing o the past. Also, we look to see more trading among the two countries.

 The geographic location between the two countries is such that there are people who cross borders to seek for health-care services and leveraging on this opportunity, to strengthen health care services by sharing experience and best practices would help a great deal.

In the era of digital revolution, the two countries can be a perfect example in utilizing our digital strengthen, and opportunities to amass economic growth.
