Woman docked for alleged theft

A woman accused of stealing was recently arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

Victoria Mendy denied the charge and was granted court bail of D1 million with a Gambian surety who must deposit a title deed.

According to the charge sheet, the accused, Victoria Mendy, between 1 August 2010 and 17 January 2011, in the Kanifing Municipality, by virtue of her employment as a cashier at Ecobank, stole on various occasions a total amount of D854, 071, being the property of the said bank and thereby committed an offence.

The case continues on 24 October 2011.
