Trust Bank introduces Electronic Bill Payment

In this equation, Trust Bank has endeavoured to ensure people of The Gambia receive the best of banking service, evidence of which is its introducing of a new and advanced product in the country called Trust Bank Electronic Bill Payment.

Trust Bank Gambia Limited has launched another new product in the Gambian market called Trust Bank Electronic Bill Payment, “to ease the pain of commuting to schools or institutions just to pay your bills when it can be done from your bank”.

The introduction of this service to The Gambia by Trust Bank, which is common in most countries around the world, is a testimony of the bank’s ever-increasing commitment to serving the Gambian people.

The first of its kind in The Gambia, Trust Bank Electronic Bill Payment is a payment system that makes it possible for both Trust Bank’s customers and non-customers alike to make payment of their utility bills, telephone bills, school fees, local authority bills and many other bills or fees, through any of its 15 branches across the country.

“The uniqueness of the service is such that the moment the transaction is completed, the payment information is relayed real time to the utility company, university, or school,” said Trust Bank’s Managing Director Pa Macoumba Njie, at the launching of the product held yesterday at the bank’s head office in Banjul.

He explained further: “The benefits to our partner organization include the additional 15 Trust Bank branches to their network thereby making it more convenient to the  paying customers, real time information to aid their customer account updating and we are particularly happy to add that the incidence of returned cheques will forever be removed from the equation.

“In addition to all of these, the newly modified Trust Bank Online banking provides yet another outlet for payments to be made from anywhere in the world.”

With established presence of 15 branches across the country, Trust Bank is well placed to serve the Gambian people. Through its widespread tentacles in and outside of The Gambia, the public can be sure that Trust Bank is determined to always give out the best on the backdrop of its understanding of the needs of the people.

Pa Macoumba Njie again: “The Trust Bank Electronic Bill Payment we are launching today joins a long list of services that were introduced to The Gambia by your truly, the only Gambian bank. These include Online Banking, Point of Sale payment system, SMS banking and Trust Alert. We will forever endeavour to bring to The Gambia any service available anywhere in the world that will add value to our offering to the Gambian market, for the 21st Century needs 21st Century technology and services.”

MD Njie paid special tribute to their partners in the new development. These include Nawec, Gamtel, the University of The Gambia, GTTI, WAIS and Marina International School.

“We extend profound gratitude to them for believing in Trust Bank and our sincerity to the cause of always putting The Gambia first,” he said.

He also thanked the officials of the Central Bank of The Gambia for their expert assessment of “this exciting new service” and for their timely validation and stamp of approval for it to be introduced to the Gambian market.

“To the people of our dear country,” he said, “we say that this product is for you and we hope you find it as exciting as intended.”

Mr Njie’s assurance of the efficiency and reliability of the new service was greased by Oreme Joiner, Trust Bank General Manager, Banking, in the following words: “This product is a manifestation that we have been and we will continue to be using IT to ensure that the service we provide are reliable and can meet your needs.”

Mr Joiner said Trust Bank has robust banking software that will continue to bolster the service delivery of the bank in the 21st century and beyond. “We believe that we should be at par with banks in the developed world,” he said.

Jamal Miknas, managing director of Gamtel, in a brief remark, commended Trust Bank for the new product, saying: “It is another demonstration that banking will go a long way in meeting the needs of the banking population of The Gambia.”

Behind the technological prowess of this new product and service is also an IT consultant from Kenya called Evans Sinei, which shows that Trust Bank, the bank of the people, can go to great lengths to satisfy and meet the needs of its customers and people of The Gambia in its service delivery.

And Dodou Nyang, the marketing manager of Trust Bank, believes his bank will continue to excite and contribute to the socio-economic development of The Gambia.

Trust Bank, he reiterated, is and will always be a major partner in national development via its contribution in education, health, sports, disaster management, and technological advancement in its banking operations.
