Abdoulie Faye, aged 21, was on Friday killed by a heavy thunder storm while doing physical exercise around Old Yundum Lower Basic School football field.

Speaking to this reporter at his Old Yundum compound, Mr. Samaka Faye, the father to the late Abdoulie Faye, said the incident happened around 5pm, while Abdoulie was preparing in advance for Old Yundum 2009 Nawettan season, which is to be played after the Ramadan.

According to Mr. Faye, at the time of the accident there were other boys playing football on the same field who noticed that Abdoulie was killed by the thunder storm.

Mr. Faye revealed that the boys saw the late Abdoulie lying motionless on the ground at the edge of the field.

Faye said he was then rushed to the Banjulinding Health Centre where he was confirmed dead, and subsequently laid to rest on Saturday at Old Yundum.

Abdoulie was a grade 12 student at Daddy Jobe Comprehensive Senior Secondary School.

In a separate but related development, a three-year-old boy, Basaloum Colley, was also killed when a wall collapsed on him in the wee hours of last Saturday, in Tallinding.
