The Dembadou boys beat Brufut 2-1 in the quarterfinal at the weekend to advance to the semifinal, and East boys defeated Manjai on penalties in the all-Kanifing Municipality derby clash, after the regulation time failed to produce a winner in the quarterfinal prior to their semifinal tie.
Serrekunda East came all out for revenge against Sukuta to sail to the final after losing to Dembadou boys 1-0 in the group stage but were reluctant as the Sukutarians finally carried the day after netting two brilliant goals to advance to the final.
Alasanna Jatta came very close to opening the scores for Sukuta in the 18th minute of the game but his effort went wide.
Serrekunda East, on the other hand, made some efforts and created goal-scoring opportunities but could not break through Sukuta’s formidable defence line thus the first half ended blank.
Upon resumption of the game, Sukuta regrouped themselves and mounted heavy pressure on Serrekunda East and opened the scores through former Bakau United centre-back Musa Yaffa in the 53rd minute of the game from an excellent free-kick to give Dembadou boys the lead.
Serrekunda East brawled quickly for an equalizer and could have levelled the scores through Serign Babou Cham in the 74th minute of the game but the effort was saved by Sukuta’s net-minder Bakary Sabally.
Moment later Sukuta found themselves 2-0 up when substitute Dawda Sissoho netted the second goal in the 84th minute of the game after beating two Serrekunda East defenders and the goalkeeper to drill home the winner to dash Serrekunda East hopes of coming back to their feet.
Serrekunda East responded back for an equalizer but were halted by Sukuta’s solid defence line thus the game ended 2-0 in favour of Dembadou boys.
Sukuta will now play the final against Serrekunda West or Bakau on Saturday 14 November 2015.
