The Coloma Convent Girls School in collaborating with The Gambia Children Trust spear headed by Dr Abass Khadra, a senior surgical consultant, yesterday officially handed over to the management of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) the hospital's newly refurbished and rehabilitated Pediatric Surgical Unit.
The rehabilitation and refurbishment, according officials, cost D2 million Dalasis.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr Babucarr Ngum, Public Relations Officer of the RVTH, noted that Dr Abass and his team had been helping RVTH for more than ten years now. He emphasized the D2 Million worth rehabilitation and refurbishment of the surgical unit of the hospital was a major contribution.
For his part, Dr Abass Khadra, the man behind the project, said his UK-based organization normally embark on fund raising to support projects in The Gambia for a quality health delivery system.
He assured the management of the RVTH of his organization's continuous support.
Speaking earlier, Dr Tamsir Mbowe, Chief Medical Director at the RVTH, applauded Dr Abass and his team for their kind gesture.
