Magistrate Effim of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one Ousman Badjie to three years mandatory jail term for stealing solar panels.
According to the facts as narrated by Police Prosecutor CPL 935 Jammeh, it happened on 5th February 2010, when the convict stole two solar panels that were installed at Buginga Village Garden.
He narrated that while he was waiting for transport, one Sulaman Sanyang spotted him with the solar panels, and asked him where he got them only to be told that he got it from Buginga village.
CPL 935 Jammeh further informed the court that the convict later left with the solar panels to Pirang where he gave the solar panels to one Ousman Keita to sell at D30, 000. He said the convict was later arrested, cautioned and charged with the offence committed.
In a similar development, one Ousman Keita was also convicted and sentenced by the same Brikama Magistrates' Court to two years mandatory term for receiving stolen property.
He was said to have received the solar panels from Ousman Badjie knowing that the said solar panels were stolen properties.
