The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) is organising the 21st edition of May Day Sports on Sunday, 1 May 2011 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
This year, over 50 companies and institutions will take part in the 21st edition to compete in interesting fun events, the GNOC reveals.
Among the fun events are Tug of war, 100 metres (women) 4x 100 meters (men), 3 Legged race (women), Greasy pole, Sack race, 60 meters Potato race, 4x 100 meters (women), Musical Chair (men and women), 70metres Cabinet Ministers race and 70 meters Managing Directors race, and Permanent Secretaries race.
The general public is invited to come and give their support to their institutions, friends, fathers, uncles and mothers.
It would be recalled that the GNOC started last year’s May Day Sports event on 27 April with a girls’ conference at the GNOC’s office, which brought together students from 10 schools along with their PE teachers, geared towards increasing women prominence in sports.
That was shortly after leading a total of 40 sports reporters to an intensive lecture at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi, as part of events marking the May Day Sports programme.
The GNOC is urging all to come to enjoy the May Day Sports fun.
