Gambia’s
track and field queen Gina Bass Wednesday broke another national record as she
finished 7:11 seconds in Lievin, France in the 60m final of the IAAF World
Athletics Indoor tour across Europe.
The
24-year-old surpassed her personal best record set earlier as she timed 7.16
seconds, during the 60m women’s indoor game final in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The
Tubakuta-born sprinter is currently the only Gambian athlete to book a spot at
the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The
Police officer-cum-sprinter, Bass is Africa’s fastest in 200m after beating
Ivorian and Africa’s fastest sprinter Marie-Josee Ta Lou.
