The treason trial of one Gibril Saidy yesterday resumed before Justice Moses Richards of the Special Criminal Court of the High Court in Banjul.
The accused person, Gibril Saidy, was alleged to have attempted to overthrow the government of The Gambia on 25th December 2009, by soliciting assistance from military personnel on duty at Yundum Army Barracks in the Western Region.
However, the case could not continue, since the accused person told the court that he is yet to secure the services of a lawyer.
Justice Richards then ordered the Principal Registrar of the High Court to write for the state to provide legal counsel to the accused.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Richard Chenge, and his team represented the state.
Hearing continues on 5th April 2010.
