The reigning FA Cup champions Gamtel, Seaview and Young Africans are through to the semifinal in the 2013 Gambia Football Federation after winning their quarterfinal ties on Sunday.
Gamtel, who have won the FA Cup competition three consecutive times, advanced to the semifinal after beating Brikama United 2-0 in the quarterfinal played at the Brikama Mini Stadium.
This victory came thanks to striker Assan Ceesay’s brace in the 81st and 86th minutes of the game to earn his side a place in the semifinal as well as keeping their dreams of winning the FA Cup four times in a row.
Seaview progressed to the semifinal following their 3-1 post-match penalty shootout victory over Steve Biko in an all-Bakau derby game, after a goalless draw in the regulation time at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Young Africans booked their ticket to the final after beating Hawks in the other quarterfinal game played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium on the same day.
The other quarterfinal game between Real De Banjul and Serrekunda United at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda was called off because the field was not ruled.
