Registration for the championship is open to only Gunjurians and registration fees are pegged at D25 per athlete.
The annual championship is set to attract thousands of spectators from Gunjur and its satellite areas for the daylong event.
Champions Gunjur Radio Jannehkoto FM will face stiff competition from runners-up Sandali Oil and Trading Company Limited, Food Step Ecko Lodge, Gunjur Project Lodge, and Kuba Lodge for the championship title.
In an interview with reporters after Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association annual general congress held at the Gunjur Day Care Centre at the weekend, Sulayman Manneh, a member of GAA, said the championship is open to athletes residing in Gunjur only.
He added that five institutions will participate in the 2014 championship, namely 2013 champions Gunjur Radio Jannehkoto FM, runners-up Sandali Oil and Trading Company Limited, Food Step Ecko Lodge, Gunjur Project Lodge and Kuba Lodge.
Manneh added that prizes and accolades will be awarded to outstanding athletes during the championship.
It would be recalled that Gunjur Radio Jannehkoto FM emerged champions of the 2013 championship after snatching 251 points, followed by Sandali Oil and Trading Company Limited in second position with 242 points, while Food Step Ecko Lodge came third with 214 points.
The championship was organised to raise funds for Gunjur zonal team’s participation in the 2013 Super Nawetan zonal football tournament in which the South boys were crushed out of the tournament in the group stage after losing to Sukuta 3-1 in their final group tie played at the Independence Stadium.
