Four men Abdourahman Saine, Abdourahman John, Roger Ndeki and Modou Saine were on 5th August 2009 arraigned before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court on charges of theft and shop breaking.
On Count One the accused persons on the 11th July, 2009, at Kanifing Layout jointly and unlawfully broke into the shop of one Boston Idiakhe with intent to commit a felony to wit stealing.
On Count Two the accused persons on the 11th July 2009, at the same place, having unlawfully broken into the shop of Boston Idiakhe, stole the following: one LG television valued at D4500, one Samsung DVD player valued at D1,600, two LG speakers valued at D1,700, one three deck radio player valued at D9,100 and a bundle of DVD/VCD cassettes valued at D1,200.
The first and second accused persons pleaded guilty to Count One while the third and fourth accused persons pleaded not guilty.
The first accused again pleaded guilty to count two while the remaining three accused persons pleaded not guilty.
Inspector Mariama Fatty, the prosecuting officer in this case, applied to the court not to grant the accused persons bail on the grounds that the investigations are ongoing and if they are granted bail, they would tamper with their witnesses.
Magistrate Mbake granted the application and remanded.
