A
daylong forum on drug abuse recently ended at the Abraxas Job Placement
Training Center at Fajara M. Section.
The
forum was organized by Abraxas Job Placement Training Center, a non-profit
organization that provides opportunities for young people to improve their
prospects and productivity.
The
forum also aimed to increase awareness on drug abuse and how to discourage
youths in the country from enduring its harmful effects.
The
Director and Project Manager of Abraxas, Sekuru Berenga, alias Papa B, spoke on
the dangers of drug abuse, especially for the youth and how they should be
treated.
He
advised the youth to stay away from drugs, noting that it is detrimental to
their health and wellbeing.
Mr
Berenga promised that they would continue to fully support the forum at Abraxa.
Maimuna
Kolley, Assistant Coordinator of Abraxa, said they usually organized forums
every two months and that various topics are discussed for the benefit of
society.
Paul
Demba, a teacher at SOS Upper Basic School, highlighted the importance of the
forum, saying they were able to learn about the dangers of drug abuse and its effects
on the society.
The
forum was attended by students and teachers from various institutions in the
country.
The
forum next is set to be held on 9 July 2017.
Abraxa
Job Center provides training and job opportunities for young people in courses
like customer care, work ethics, introduction to English and others.
