Abdoukarim Conteh, who was charged with the offence of assaulting a police
officer, recently testified under cross-examination before Magistrate Ibrahim
Kijera of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court.
Under cross-examination, the accused told the court that at the time the police went to effect arrest on PW4, Burama Joof, he was at home throughout.
He said on the day in question people were many in the compound and denied the allegation that he had assaulted a police officer.
The witness further denied the allegation that he had attacked the police officer in the due execution of their duties as alleged by the police.
“When the police were taking Joof, I only opened the door of the vehicle in an attempt to talk to the police because Burama Joof is just like a brother to me,” he said.
“I have never assaulted any police officer and I have never obstructed any police. All what I have said was the truth,” he stated.
