The alleged defilement case involving one Demba Sowe, a Senegalese national, and a resident of Farafenni village, was recently adjourned at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul before Justice Emmanuel Nkea.

It was adjourned on the grounds that the accused was sick and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

When the case was called, the state counsel informed the court that the accused was sick.

The judge then asked one of the prison officers, who confirmed the state counsel’s information.

The case was then adjourned till 17 July 2013.

The accused, Demba Sowe, was alleged to have deflowered an underage girl at Farafenni village in the North Bank Region, a charge he had denied.
