The current league leaders of the Gambia Football Association first division league, Brikama United on Sunday were held to a goalless drew by rock bottom occupants Steve Biko FC in the week thirteen fixtures of the league played at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
Both teams put up brilliant performance in the game but could only manage to create few goal-scoring opportunities they failed to capitalise on resulting into a goalless first half.
Brikama United are still on top of the league table with 26 points in thirteen games, while Steve Biko FC are still bottom on the league table with only 8 points in thirteen encounters.
On the same day at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, Wallidan FC beat Bakau United by a goal to nil.
Wallidan FC have collected 23 points in thirteen games and are 3rd on the league standing, while Bakau United have so far collected 14 points in thirteen encounters.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Ensa Sambou, head coach of Brikama United, said it was a difficult week for them because some of their players “are nursing injuries while others have still not yet fully recovered from sicknesses”.
“Our midfield did not work well today,” he said, adding that complacency is taking toll on his players because “they are young”.
He said: “If you want to win a league you need to win your games and this is what we are working on.
“We will go back and prepare more for our next game against Wallidan FC. We cannot afford to loose that game because it is one of the games that will determine the hunt for the title.
