Striker Ismaila Tamba’s brace has placed Vietnam Border of Bakau ever closer to regaining their place in the popular Bakau Naweetan in a stunning fashion.

The talismanic front man netted in each half to help Border crush to a narrow 2-1 win over Happy Corner in the 2011/12 Bakau Naweetan  Qualifiers played at the dilapidated Bakau Mini-stadium on Thursday.

The win has put Vietnam Border into the play-off spot where a victory will definitely see them qualify for the Naweetan proper.

Border were once regarded as one of the most successful and outstanding naweetan teams in Bakau after a succession of championship glories has seen them conquer Naweetan football in the area.

But their recent run of poor form has also seen them fail in their attempt to escape relegation from the top flight Naweetan following two consecutive defeats to Kachically United and Fajara Kerrgi last term.

Border, blessed with a good number of established star players some years ago, are arguably one of the weakest Naweetan teams in Bakau of recent. They have so far managed to win only one out of their three games in the group stage of the last year’s Naweetan, which came against Birmingham prior to conceding those two losses.

Another game in the ongoing qualifying round matches saw Magadan entertain Kutehje to an emphatic 3-nil win at the Bakau Mini-stadium thanks to goals from Ousman Jarju, with Falou Ngum netting twice to round off a convincing victory at the expense of helpless newcomers Kutehje.
