Africell, one of the leading GSM companies in the country, on Friday presented sixteen Hajj packages to their lucky winners at a presentation ceremony held at its head office on Kairaba Avenue.

Mam Samba, a lucky winner of a Hajj package from Serrekunda, said she was surprised with winning the package but expressed joy with Africell’s gesture.

“All I can do is pray for Africell so that their business can continue growing forever, she said, adding that Africell is supporting everyone in the country.

“Africell are here for the general public and I call on everybody to go and buy an Africell line,” stated the 60-year-old, who is going to perform the Hajj for the first time.

Madam Samba, who said she had been using Africell since the company started operations in the country, also thanked the company for supporting the elders of the country.

Fatou Huma, a native of Jokadu, Fatoumatta Dembaka, Manlifi Ceesay, a resident of Brikama and Alkali Kanteh, a native of Njabakunda, are all winners who thanked and prayed for Africell.

Meanwhile, the first batch of Gambian pilgrims, numbered 320, were on Saturday airlifted onboard an Ethiopian aircraft to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform the fifth pillar of Islam.

The country’s some one thousand and five hundred intending pilgrims are all expected to depart by the middle of this week, GIA officials say.
