Eight
executive members of Operation Three Years Jotna, who are currently on remand
at the State Central prison will today appear at the High Court in Banjul.
The
executive members: Abdou Njie, Ebrima Kitim Jarju, Sheriffo Sonko, Hagi
Suwaneh, Fanta Mballow, Karim Touray, Yankuba Darboe and Muctarr Ceesay are
charged with rioting, unlawful assembly and rioters’ demolition of structures
of which one of the counts attracts life imprisonment.
Last
week they were arraigned before Magistrate P. Sarr of the Kanifing Magistrates’
Court. The court transferred the matter to the High Court in Banjul because it
lacks the jurisdiction to hear the case. Operation 3 Years Jotna is a pressure
group demanding the resignation of President Adama Barrow.
