Modou Njie and Baba Samba were Monday arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing from a person and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Count one of the charge sheet read that on 11 November 2012, at Senegambia Garage, in the Kanifing Municipality, Modou Njie and Baba Samba, jointly stole from one Lamin Marenah, a wallet containing cash of D1,800, one phone valued at D1,100 and one pair of shoes valued at D300.
The charge sheet on count two stated that the two accused persons jointly assaulted Lamin Marenah all over his body by using metal bar and pipe, thereby causing him actual bodily harm on his back, eyes and teeth.
They denied the charges and were each granted court bail of D25,000 with two Gambian sureties with ID cards and depose to an affidavit of means.
