Yankuba Touray Sacked, Major Government Shake-up Imminent

According to GRTS, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Dr. Alhagie Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh, the President of the Republic of The Gambia, acting in accordance with the provision of section 168 of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has relieved Mrs. Teneng Ba Jaiteh of her position as Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service with effect from Wednesday the 27th of May 2009.

In the same vein His Excellency appointed Mr. Abdoulie M. Sallah, the Secretary to Cabinet to the position of Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service with immediate effect. Mrs. Teneng Ba Jaiteh is re-deployed to the Ministry of Petroleum as to serve as Deputy Minister.

Dr. Njogu L. Bah, Permanent Secretary One, Office of the President, now replaces Mr. Abdoulie M. Sallah as Secretary to the Cabinet.

His Excellency, the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Dr. Alhagie Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh, acting under the provisions of the section 71 of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia has also decided to relieved Mr. Yankuba Touray of his cabinet appointment as well as his position as APRC National Mobiliser with effect from the 29th May 2009.

As part of the statement from GRTS, the public is further informed that a major government shake-up is imminent.
