Villages have started stretching up their muscles for the 2017 Kombo South district football tournament after the draw for the district biggest football fray was held at the Kaira Su Federation Skills Centre in Sanyang

The defending champions Kartong will be hoping to replicate their 2015 Kombo South district football tournament performance, as they beat Tanji 1-0 in the final to clinch their first-ever district crown at the Sanyang Football Field.

The runners-up Tanji will target to win their games to increase their chances of reaching the final as well as to keep their hopes of lifting their first-ever Kombo South district football title after losing two finals in a row against Sifoe 1-0 in 2014 and Kartong on the same score-line in 2015.

Nyofelleh and Banyaka, on the other hand, will both prepare well to put remarkable performance to increase their hopes of reaching the final after the paired were eliminated in the semifinal in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Sanyang are also among the villages preparing for the district’s biggest football fiesta.

Sanyang missed the last two Kombo South district football tournaments due to suspension after failing to honour their 2012 Kombo South district football final against Sifoe, at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field.

The Sanyang boys will endeavour to maintain perfect run of form in the tournament to improve their hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinal as well as to keep their dreams of landing their second Kombo South District Football tournament title since clinching their first-ever district crown in year 2000.

Jambanjelly, Mamuda, Jamburr, Bato-Kunku and Farato are all stretching up their muscles free after their poor performance in the previous Kombo South district football tournament.

Farato beat Kartong on penalties after their goalless draw in the regulation in the final to clinch the 2008 Kombo South District football tournament title bankrolled by the country’s GSM Operator Gamcel.

Debutants Madina Salaam and whipping boys Gunjur Kunkujang will vie to put their house in order to improve their chances of reaching the quarterfinal after their poor performance in the 2015 Kombo South district football tournament.
