STOP PRESS: Six Gambian Journalists Jailed

The high court in Banjul presided over by Justice Emmannuel Fagbenle today convicted and sentenced six Gambian journalists who were charged with six counts of sedition and criminal defamation to two years imprisonment.

Pap Saine, Editor of the Point newspaper, Ebrima Sawaneh, Deputy editor of the Point, Pa Modou Faal, Treasurer of the Gambia Press Union, Emil Touray, Secretary General of the Union, Sarata Jabbi-Dibba, Vice President of the Union and Sam Sarr, editor of Foroyaa newspaper were found guilty on all six counts by the high court.
