Seatbelt Laws to be Enforced

The laws relating to the wearing of seatbelts and the use of mobile phones whilst driving, which were enacted by the National Assembly last year, are now been put into effect (enforced).

According to a press release from the Office of Inspector General of Police, signed by the ASP Sulayman Secka, Police Public Relation Officer it is being enforced with effect from 1st January 2009.

It states that these are not just words, and will translate into real actions, No driver will be allowed to drive without putting on the seatbelt or while using a mobile phone.

"Anyone found wanting would be dealt with according to the law", the release stated.
