Condolences to Bereaved Families

africa » gambia
Monday, January 05, 2009

We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and Africell Gambia limited for the tragic event that occurred on New Year's eve claiming four lives.

As is always the case, it was God's will that such an unfortunate and sad incident occurred, and no one can question let alone challenge the divine will. We also know that as always expected of them, Africell have in mind, the aim of entertaining and satisfying its customers and the Gambian people especially when it comes to events like this one.

We wish this sad incident will never occur again. It is however necessary that whenever such events are organised, the organisers, be it any other company, should take into consideration, the venue. The July 22nd Square, the Independence Stadium, Buffer Zone, or any other spacious and secured places can be used as a venue to avoid any such kind of stampede that claimed the lives of four young people. It was really sad and untimely to see three young girls and one young man lose their lives in this unfortunate incident. May their souls rest in perfect peace.

We would also like to commiserate with Africell who were the organisers of the event and to wish that they are not overly distraught or discouraged about this sad event. They should by all means keep up the good work that exists between them and their customers. It was God the Almighty's will. They should learn from their mistakes and work hard next time to get a more spacious and secured place so that the crowd could be controlled to avoid any stampede. Once again our sympathies go to relatives of the deceased, and all prayers also for speedy recovery of the injured victims.
