Prison Officer Testifies in Court

The criminal case involving Sirreh Kujabi and Malick Othman who are facing two count charges of rouge and vagabond and going arm in public proceeded before Senior Magistrate A. Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court with the prosecution second witness, one Babucarr Kujabi a prison officer given his side of the case.

Adducing evidence, Babucarr Kujabi, a prison officer attached to Kairaba Police Station told the court that he recognised the 1st accused and can recall on 21st February 2009.
According to him while at Kairaba Police Station they received an information about a criminal hideout in Kanifing Estate.

"We are divided into five groups and I happened to be in a group that went to Kanifing Estate" he told the court.

CPL Kujabi adduced that upon arrival at the unfinished compound at Kanifing Estate, they sealed the compound, adding that he entered with two officers inside and found the 1st accused sleeping.

Further testifying the witness told the court that he wake the accused and contact his OC that he found one person at the criminal hideout with a Knife and a pair of scissors on him. He noted that he enquired from him and the accused replied that he own it.

PW2 maintained that his OC instructed him to take the accused to Kairaba Police Station where he made a statement .

The case continues on the 17th June 2009.
