The Office of the President said it has discovered “one of the most serious economic crimes” in government during the past 22 years of the Second Republic, according to a news release from the Office of the President aired over GRTS yesterday.

“The cluster of issues concerns the procurement of petroleum and hence the institutions involved include the Ministry of Petroleum, the GNPC and the board of GNPC,” the President’s Office said in a statement.

“All those suspected to be involved are currently helping the competent security officers in the execution of their mandate to investigate into the matter.

“The government would ensure that the right examples are set in accordance with the laws of this country to prevent the occurrences of such incidence,” the release stated.
